The New SU Constitution
On the 29th and 30th of November 2022, students will be asked to vote on a new Constitution which will merge the existing Students’ Unions into one. The proposed SETUSU structure will see a larger team spanning the Wexford, Waterford and Carlow campuses, with an emphasis on representing students on both college-wide platforms as well as campus-specific issues.
Voting will be held online, and we want you to make an informed decision – that’s why you can access the new proposed Constitution here.
A summary of the main changes can be found below:
- The addition of an overarching President who will represent all students across every campus, with deputy presidents situated on the Wexford, Waterford and Carlow campus for the day-to-day running of the Union
- A full-time Wexford Campus Officer
- An Executive Class Representative Council to look after issues that affect all students of SETU, as well as Wexford, Waterford and Carlow Class Representative Councils to discuss campus-specific issues
- A Board of Governance composed of students and SETUSU staff to manage financial, legal, insurance, and other matters. This structure is designed to ensure that SETUSU is held accountable.
Join us on the 29th and 30th of November in shaping the future of the New SU!

It will be lovely to adopt the above proposed ideas.
Having an overarching student union seeing to the welfare of all the students in all the campuses will be great. However, could you please look into the fact that there is no reading week this academic year?
Success to all of us with voting.
